Wednesday Watch List: What We Watched This Week

Welcome to the table,

Sometimes you can spend hours just flipping through the various streaming services, TV channels, and YouTube offerings and still not find something. To try and help break through some of that difficult decision making I pulled together a list of the TV, Movie, and Streaming shows from the last week in something we are going to call the Wednesday Watch List.

Frank Martin offered up a solid review on Season 3, episode 1 of one of my favorite current shows The Righteous Gemstones. Check it out at the link.

Erik Amaya talked about They Cloned Tyrone, a new film coming to Netflix and starring John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, Jamie Foxx, and Austin Freeman (Interview with Austin coming soon).  Erik also offers a really comprehensive list of what is coming to Netflix in July so if you are the type who likes to get Alexa to remind you of what is coming soon, this is the perfect article for you. Check it out at the link.

Frank dropped a review of Netflix’s Black Mirror season 3 episode titled Joan Is Awful. This article has some solid spoilers but is really insightful on an episode I was not a fan of at first. Upon reading what Frank wrote, though, I circled back to it and can see the value in the episode. Sometimes it just takes a perspective shift. You can check out his piece at this link.

For lovers of classic films, Rachel Bellwoar talked about the Warner Archive double feature Blu-ray containing King Solomon’s Mines and Queen Christina. You can check out these stellar reviews at this link.

The talented Genndy Tartakovsky announced that his series Primal would be returning for a 3rd season. If you have not watched the first two seasons of Primal, you are truly missing out on what may be my favorite show of all time. Go check the first two seasons out on MAX or HBOmax or whatever you can stream AdultSwim on and then once you have watched it all comeback and check out Tito W. James‘ article about Genndy Tartakovsky’s Instagram post at this link.

Frank has a conversation about engaging audiences through subtle moments in visual storytelling and his example of Mr. Inbetween, now on Hulu, had me add it to my watch list. Check out the article at this link.

Frank is loading the bases on our Watch List Wednesday with this review of The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 Episode 2. The show is so funny and irreverent and well put together, I will tell you again and each time this show comes up, you should be watching it. You can check out the review of this episode at the link.

Rachel reminded me that Riverdale was still a show and that apparently, things are still getting wild. This show now has a killer milkman and I’m planning on returning to catch up on the last few seasons based on this article alone. Check it out at the link.

Frank, or a very talented Skrull pretending to be him, reviewed Secret Invasion Season 1 Episode 1. You can check that out at this link.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Frank again with a review of Superman & Lois Season 3 Episode 12. You can check that out at this link.

If you have not checked out Gotham Knights yet, you can jump on board now. You know who (spoiler: It’s Frank Martin) provided some insight on the episode that tipped me into adding it to my watch list and now I need to go back to the beginning and get all caught up. You can check it out at this link.

I don’t even know what Helluva Boss is, but I’ve been a fan of Kesha since she still used a dollar sign in her name way back in the day. Even though she does not use it anymore she is still popping up here and there and this YouTube show that Tito covered features her, and honestly, it is super cool. You can check it out at the link.

Tito also offers his thoughts on Wes Anderson‘s Asteroid City. You can check that out at this link.

And finishing up this week’s Wednesday Watchlist, the Man, the Myth, the Media Machine, Frank Martin offers a review on The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 Episode 3. If you are not watching this show, you should be. You can check that out at this link.

Check out the links, give us your thoughts, and we will see you next week for another installment.

Until next time, seriously, watch The Righteous Gemstones.
