David Corenswet And Rachel Brosnahan To Lead Superman: Legacy

The new DCU has its North Stars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter — and subsequently confirmed by DC Studios co-CEO James GunnDavid Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star in Gunn’s Superman: Legacy as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively. Per an earlier THR article, the pair were involved in a series of screen tests with other actors across the weekend with, it seemed, the final determination for Clark coming down to who would look best in the suit. And so, Corenswet, a veteran of Pearl and We Own This City, will soon carry the S-Shield on his chest.

Brosnahan, meanwhile, seems tailor-made to play Lois thanks to her mid-century stylings on Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Superman: Legacy will reportedly flip part of the established Superman myth by introducing him in a world where superheroes already exist. The Authority will make an appearance in the film, per the THR screentest article and earlier reports. Gunn also previously said the film will establish Superman’s place in that world while avoiding many of the origin trappings of previous films and TV shows.

With its key stars set, Gunn now moves on to casting a new Lex Luthor and members of the Authority. Although, with a potential actor’s strike on the horizon, it may be some time before we see any of these actors in their DC guises.

Superman: Legacy is currently scheduled for release on July 11th, 2025.
