While the first trailer for Dune: Part 2 focused on Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) conquering Shai-Hulud, it also ended with the Fremen war cry, “Long live the fighters.” And in this new trailer for the film, the fighters — and the fight — take center stage. Paul, now going by Muad’Dib, allies with the Fremen to remove the Harkonnens from Arrakis and, as he puts it, “control a thing.” But will that control be everything he wants or the portent of something terrible?
Based on this preview, it would seem Paul’s worst fears will be realized and that the studio is committed to Dune Messiah, the subsequent Dune novel by Frank Herbert that is essential reading to understand his true intentions with Paul’s tale. Of course, with the studio in the same state as the Imperium, it remains to be seen if the IP spice will continue to flow or if Harkonnen-style resource management will lead to the end of Dune.
Dune: Part 2 hits theaters on November 3rd.
