‘Deadpool’ Director Tim Miller To Adapt ‘Alien Legion’ For Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Pictures is looking beyond its own comic book properties for the next big thing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is developing an adaptation of Alien Legion with Deadpool director Tim Miller attached to helm the project. Created by Carl Potts, Alan Zelenetz, and Frank Cirocco for Marvel’s creator-owned Epic line in the 1980s, it tells the tale of Force Nomad — an intergalactic equivalent of the World War II’s French Foreign Legion. The group accepts various species into ranks while trying to help maintain a galactic democracy. The book survived even when Epic didn’t, being published by the likes of Dark Horse and Titan across the years.

Various attempt to adapt the series have also been attempted in the decades since its Epic debut, but Miller’s participation may get it across the finish line. Don Murphy and Susan Montford will produce alongside Aaron Ryder.

Of course, with the industry still spinning up after very long strike actions, it remains to be seen when the film will appear or if Warner will ultimately release it. The studio and its corporate parent are currently experiencing a lot of flack from the almost-cancellation of Coyote vs. Acme, a completed animated film starring John Cena. Reportedly, various agents were cancelling meetings with the studio this week as more talent fear their work getting shelved for a tax break.
