The Flash Director Andy Muschietti Takes The Reins Of The Brave And The Bold As Director

In the few hours prior to The Flash‘s wide release in theaters yesterday, Variety learned its director, Andy Muschietti, will continue his association with the DC Comics characters as the director of The Brave and the Bold.

As outlined by DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn in January, the film will be based on Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert‘s Batman and Son, introducing both the DC Cinematic Universe Batman and his firstborn child, Damian Wayne. The pair must learn how to be father and son and Batman and Robin even while facing the Caped Crusader’s various foes. No writer has been announced for the project, and one not be settled upon until the conclusion of the on-going Writers Guild strike. The director’s sister and producing partner, Barbara Muschietti, will also be aboard in the same capacity she held on The Flash.

Of course, if you’ve read our Flash review, you may guess we have little confidence in the DCU right now, but as Muschietti’s directing was one of the more positive aspects of the film, it is possible he can do good work with a new Batman and Robin as opposed to continuing the creative misfire that was the big screen Flash, a concept he inherited from Justice League.

Worrying about such things is academic, though, as no film or TV project can move forward until the strike is resolved.
