‘American Psycho’ Meets ‘Sherlock Holmes’: Mind-Bending Thriller ‘Phantom Pain’ Is Coming To Kickstarter

Pain, the masked human lie detector, has 5 minutes to prevent a Tokyo University dropout from giving the world’s most extensive Bitcoin collection to the Yakuza. Phantom Pain is a gripping psychological thriller that combines the intensity of American Psycho with the analytical wit of Sherlock Holmes.

As Comicon.com’s resident underground film enthusiast, Phantom Pain caught my eye. I can attest that director K.D.Wilson has great taste in movies. Phantom Pain is influenced by Perfect Blue (1997), Nightcrawler (2014), The Strangers (2008), and Audition (2000). K.D.Wilson expressed that a film like this is too risky to make in America, but without risk we wouldn’t have directors like Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Darren Aronofsky, or Wes Anderson. Japanese outlaw cinema and auteur theory are music to my ears! I hope that K.D.Wilson and the full creative team are able to do right by their influences and create something daring and unique.

Those interested can click the link to be notified when the Kickstarter goes live and see the film before everyone else.
