‘Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom’ Becomes A December 2023 Release

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is moving to the end of the 2023.

Deadline reports the change in release date is part of yet another calendar shift at Warner Bros. Pictures. Besides the Aquaman sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is also moving from its December 2022 release date to Aquaman 2‘s previously spot: March 17th, 2023. Other changes include the promotion of former HBO Max original features House Party and Evil Dead Rise to full theatrical releases debuting December 9th, 2022  and April 21, 2023, respectively.

Beyond the usual Warner Bros. shuffles, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom reportedly also needs extra post-production time, a notion which is totally plausible considering the unreasonable timetables VFX artists now discuss openly online. An Aquaman film definitely needs as much time and care as possible to look good. Although, we imagine some will expect additional re-shoots after star Jason Momoa revealed Ben Affleck‘s participation in some additional filming a few weeks back. According to various reports, the actor is replacing Michael Keaton as the Batman of record as it more closely aligns with the new Warner Bros. Discovery corporate strategy for the characters.

Provided no other changes occur — an certainty the Warner conglomerate can no longer guarantee — Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes to theaters on December 25th, 2023.
