The DC Films Slate Shifts Again

It might be a familiar refrain at this point, but the DC Films release slate is changing again.

Variety reports The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Black Adam are all moving from their previously announced release dates. The reason: post-production delays stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. The former two, slated for release in fall and winter 2022 are moving to next year with the Aquaman sequel now set to bow on March 17, 2023. The Flash, meanwhile, speeds past yet another release date to a June 23, 2023 finish line. Well, we hope so anyway. Much like Barry Allen, the film is always late to its premiere.

Black Adam is moving again from its summer perch to October 21, 2022. DC League of Super-Pets is taking over Black Adam‘s July 29th, 2022 spot. And in the happiest bit of news, Fury of the Gods is moving from 2023 to December 12th, 2022! “We’re thrilled to bring Shazam! Fury of the Gods to audiences as a Christmas gift this year,” Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein said in a statement. “Families of all ages will really enjoy it.”

In the cases of Black Adam and The Flash, a new release date is hardly news. Both films, long in development, have been delayed since, at least, 2018. Hopefully, their stories will end on a successful note when they finally arrive in theaters.
