ICYMI: The Third Eye Opens In New ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ TV Spot

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is still a month away, but the advertising machine is beginning now with a new TV spot for the film. It offers a lot of what you know about the film: Steven Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) dreams seemingly becoming true, Multiversal incursions from the likes of Gigantos and the Dark Strange (also Cumberbatch) seen on Disney+’s What If…? animated series. But it also offers a few new tantalizing moments like Dark Strange’s Third Eye, the Zombie Strange, and — perhaps most notably — a change in Wanda’s (Elizabeth Olsen) voice. Is it a Scarlet Witch variant who never felt the need to alter her accent or is our Wanda reaching back to her roots?

Also, we can’t help but notice the shots of Wanda’s imaginary children. It is entirely possible the circumstance of the film will allow them to become real and, eventually, members of a Young Avengers team. Although, that’s just wild speculation. In fact, we’re a little bit surprised to see speculation on that front muted so far. You’d also think some would be suggesting that Dark Strange is Mephisto. Perhaps all of the guessing is still focused on Patrick Stewart‘s audible cameo in the trailer, which led people down the X-Men rabbit hole. That said, Wanda’s connection to the X-Men could conceivable lead her to alter reality enough for the Mutants to finally appear.

But would Marvel Studios do that in a Doctor Strange movie?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes to theaters on May 5th.
