Time to make some more room in the Howie Mandel section of your physical media collection.
Lionsgate has revealed that the 1989 cult favorite Little Monsters, starring Mandel and a Wonder Years-era Fred Savage, will arrive in a 4K steelbook edition exclusively available at Walmart in March.
Little Monsters stars Savage as Brian, a sixth-grader who moves to a new town and quickly makes friends with Maurice, the 6-foot-tall blue monster who lives under his bed (that would be Mandel). Maurice introduces Brian to the little-known world of monsters, but things go awry when Brian’s little brother is kidnapped and the duo have to save the day.
Brian’s brother is played by Fred Savage’s real-life brother, Ben Savage, while his father is played by Daniel Stern, who narrated The Wonder Years as the adult version of Savage’s character, Kevin Arnold. It’s a family affair.
The new steelbook features brand new wraparound artwork from Vance Kelly, plus a monstrous amount of supplements. Mandel Maniacs get new and vintage interviews with the actor and various cast and crew members, plus vintage behind-the-scenes footage of Mandel’s makeup transformation.
Little Monsters will be available exclusively at Walmart March 5 for the suggested retail price of $22.99.
