Miles (Shameik Moore) and Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) are reunited in this first look at Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One). The walls between universes are once again unstable, so the pair have a moment to be chummy again. But as the teaser continues, it’s clear Miles’s adventure will literally take him across the Spider-Verse as we see a stylized crossing with a guest appearance by Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac). Will the three join forces to take on their new foe? Also, who could that opponent be?
But perhaps more exciting that Spider-Man 2099 joining the team is the report of Japanese Spider-Man, the Emissary of Hell, making an appearance in the film. We’d hoped to see him in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but this works just as well. It may even be better as the film appears to double down on the stylized look of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with the sort of artistic abstraction you just cannot get in live action.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) opens October 7th, 2022.
