Tenacious D’s 2006 cult film, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, is headed to Blu-ray for the first time, courtesy of Shout! Studios.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass, who make up the comedic rock duo Tenacious D, play fictionalized versions of themselves as they strive to create the world’s greatest rock band. After failing to realize their dreams, they begin a search for the legendary “Pick of Destiny” to help turn them into Rock Gods. It all culminates in a guitar-shredding face-off with Satan (Dave Grohl, naturally).
Destiny is loaded with cameos from comedy vets like Fred Armisen, Ben Stiller and Amy Poehler, who are joined by rock royalty Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio.
The Blu-ray offers a new 2K master from the original film elements. Special features include an audio commentary with Black and Gass, a second commentary with director Liam Lynch, deleted and extended scenes, vintage featurettes, home movies, web shorts, and more.
