The anime classic Tokyo Godfathers will celebrate its 20th anniversary by being re-released in movie theaters across North America.
The latest installment of Anime Expo Cinema Nights, Tokyo Godfathers will again hit the silver screen December 11-13, 2023. The movie centers around three homeless companions who find a baby in a garbage heap on Christmas Eve. The trio name the girl Kiyoko and attempt to find her family. The three learn to overcome their differences as they form their own family and discover the surprising connections that have drawn them together.
Keiko Nobumoto of Cowboy Bebop fame co-wrote the film, which has been undergone a 4K restoration under the supervision of the original art director and producers. Keiichi Suzuki supplied the score.
