‘Titanic The Musical’ Appearing On The Silver Screen In November

Titanic is coming back to the big screen – but it may not be the exact show you were expecting.

The musical version of the sinking ship and its passengers will hit the silver screen at more than 700 movie theaters nationwide for the first time on November 4 and 8, 2023. The production was recorded live on stage from the UK, where the show had been touring.

Titanic the Musical features music and lyrics by Maury Yeston with story a book by Peter Stone. The original Broadway production opened in 1997 and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book.

“Watching it as a film is a completely different experience than seeing it onstage,” Yeston said. “This is the best directed production I’ve seen. The cast is perfect. The camera work and all of the close-ups provide a seamless liquidity for the transitions that makes every moment more immediate.”

The theatrical production was directed by Thom Southerland. Sets and costumes were designed by David Woodhead, lighting by Howard Hudson, and sound by Andrew Johnson. The musical staging was by Cressida Carré, the musical supervisor was Mark Aspinall and the musical director was Ben Papworth.

Fathom Events and BY Experience are presenting the cinematic experience.
