Ketchup Entertainment Picks Up ‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’ Film Adaptation

That next Hellboy movie is still on the way.

Deadline reports Ketchup Entertainment has picked up the rights to Millennium Media’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Based on the Hellboy miniseries by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and art by Richard Corben, the film centers on Hellboy (Jack Kesy) and a rookie at the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense as they find themselves stranded in a 1950s Appalachian town haunted by witches led by the titular Crooked Man.

Brian Taylor directs the film from a script by Mignola and Christopher Golden. Kesy — who was first cast as Hellboy in March — joins a group of actors which includes Jefferson White (as Tom Ferrell), Adeline Rudolph (as Bobbie Jo Song), Leah McNamara (as Effie Kolb), Hannah Margetson (as Cora Fisher), Martin Bassindale, and Joseph Marcell.

Characterized as another reboot, The Crooked Man will not follow on from ideas featured in Guillermo Del Toro‘s Hellboy duology or the 2019 Hellboy film directed by Neil Marshall. Instead, it will start a new Hellboy reality.

Of course, with the two strikes and the media business changing on the hour, it is unclear when the film will be released, but it is heartening to see Hellboy continue to be a series people want to adapt. Maybe, someday, we’ll even get Hellboy in Hell.
