The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie is amazing. I saw it the weekend it came out and was left so excited for the future of the franchise outside of the confines of just the gaming space. Not only was the movie full of delightful easter eggs, a really fun story, and just general D&D goodness, but there was a guy with his family standing outside the theater when I left who was grinning ear to ear.
He told me he was in his late 40s and he seemed overwhelmed by what he had just witnessed on the screen. His wife seemed so happy that he was so happy about the movie. He kept telling me “They finally made a good one!” and laughing.
It was like watching someone’s favorite team winning their big sports game. The guy was jubilant! All the hot takes online can’t compare to watching this total stranger being overwhelmed with pure joy. That for me was an amazing experience and I am grateful I was in the right place and time to see it happen. It was a good reminder of the power of good storytelling and giving an audience a story that resonates with them so completely.

Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and boasting a 93% audience score, this movie is fun and family-friendly in a way that does not make it feel sterilized or juvenile. It’s PG-13 for fantasy action violence and some language and to me nothing felt like it was skirting a more mature rating in any way.
Not only am I excited about the movie being available in the comfort of my home, but there is also over an hour of bonus content related to the lore of D&D that sounds like a ton of fun!
