L.A. Comic Con is less than two months away, so the event has been busy with announcements to hype it up. Just last week, they revealed an expansion into the west hall of the convention center that will feature gaming, eSports, and anime. Their latest news is the appearance of a big Marvel Studios star.
The headline speaker of Friday, December 2, will be none other than Simu Liu, who plays the titular character in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He will meet fans, take part in panels, and more during the three-day con. The other new confirmed guests include Elijah Wood and Sean Astin of The Lord of the Rings as well as Wil Wheaton of Star Trek: Next Generation. They will be the featured speaker on Saturday, December 3.
In addition to Shang-Chi, Liu is also known for his performance as Jung Kim in the award-winning CBC Television sitcom Kim’s Convenience, and his versatility as an actor in the diverse roles he has played. He received ACTRA Awards and Canadian Screen Awards nominations for his work in Blood and Water as well. Wood is best known as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and in The Hobbit series of films, among other roles that demonstrate his range of talents. Astin, who played the kind-hearted, pure, and loyal Hobbit, Samwise Gamgee, has racked up over 160 acting roles since age 10. Wheaton, also known as Wesley Crusher on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), first gained international attention by starring in the Rob Reiner comedy-drama film Stand by Me (1986).
L.A. Comic Con runs from December 2-4 and tickets are currently available for the event via this link.
