Blake Lively Sets Bryan Lee O’Malley’s ‘Seconds’ As Directorial Debut

Blake Lively is looking to the work of Bryan Lee O’Malley for her first feature as director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will adapt Seconds with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright writing the screenplay. The graphic novel, O’Malley’s follow-up to Scott Pilgrim, focuses on Katie Clay, who discovers she can fix her past mistakes by “writing them down in a notebook, eating a mushroom and falling asleep.” The ability comes with certain pitfalls and as she attempts to correct every error, the patches she makes to her life only lead to further complications. And, eventually, those new issues threaten the very fabric of reality. Beyond scripting the film, Wright will also produce with Marc Platt, another Scott Pilgrim veteran.

But beyond the three principle creative forces — and that it will be released by Disney’s Searchlight — little else is known about the project. And as with all newly announced projects, it is unclear how quickly the film will make its way to release. But word of Seconds makes us wonder if O’Malley’s Lost at Sea will also end up becoming a film.
