Based on the graphic novel by ND Stevenson, Nimona follows a shapeshifter (Chloë Grace Moretz) who joins a villain, Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), in his plans to destroy the over-controlling Institute. In the full trailer we get a better look at the cyberpunk fantasy world and stylized visuals. The Nimona graphic novel was praised for its inclusion of LGBTQ themes and the adaptation isn’t shying away from characters identities. For fans of the graphic novel this film has been a long time coming. Nimona is a spunky breath of fresh air that we really need right now.
Nimona will be streaming on Netflix June 30.
