Warner Bros. Pictures released a new trailer for Black Adam on Thursday night. It resembles the teaser released during Comic-Con International: San Diego in July except for one key difference you’ll hear up front in the video below:
The curse mentioned in previous teases is the cost of Black Adam’s (Dwayne Johnson) son some 5000 years before the events of the film. It is unclear how his son’s death led to him receiving the Wizard’s powers, but it leads to his current problems with the Justice Society of America. Will they be able to talk him down from taking his revenge on the world? Or will Adam finally quench his thirst?
Besides Johnson, the film also includes Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Marwan Kenzari in an as-yet undisclosed role. Sarah Shahi will also appear as a version of Adrianna Tomaz.
Behind the screen, Jaume Collet-Serra directed the film from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, based on an earlier draft by Adam Sztykiel. The plot is, of course, unknown, although at one point Johnson teased a story which will both reveal Adam’s life thousands of years ago and a modern day story in which he comes into conflict with the Justice Society of America. Presumably, the film will also set up an eventual fight again Shazam (Zachary Levi).
Black Adam comes to theaters on October 21st.
