Matt Kindt’s ‘Bang!’ And ‘Mind MGMT’ Join Netflix/Dark Horse Deal As Feature Projects

Writer Matt Kindt‘s Bang! and Mind MGMT are on their way to becoming features at Netflix.

Variety reports the streamer has extended its deal with Dark Horse Entertainment to develop content for the platform. But key to their plans moving forward is a feature film adaptation of Bang!, based on the comic by Kindt and Wilfredo Torres. Idris Elba is set to star with Deadpool 2‘s David Leitch signing on to direct. The story centers on a celebrated spy with orders to kill an author whose novels brainwash readers into joining a death cult. Kindt will adapt the comic alongside writer Zak Olkewicz.

Mind MGMT, meanwhile, has no creative participants attached, but will be executive produced by Curtis Gwinn, Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg. It follows a woman who navigates a world of “weaponized psychics, hypnotic advertising, [and] talking dolphins” to find Mind MGMT’s greatest success and failure. But he just so happens to be a single individual.

The Netflix/Dark Horse deal has already produced series like The Umbrella Academy and Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles with an adaptation of Joëlle Jones‘s Lady Killer in development with Blake Lively set to star. Like all newly announced or reported projects, it is unclear how soon Bang! or Mind MGMT will arrive on the platform.
