On Friday, Paramount+ revealed the first full trailer for its upcoming Halo series. Unlike the teaser we got last month, this gives us a much better look at Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) in uniform along with some of Halo‘s fantastic settings and other characters.
Following a few gorgeous location shots (which people more well-versed in Halo mythology than me might recognize), we get a shot of Natascha McElhone as Dr. Catherine Halsey, director of the Spartan-II program (which consisted of augmented soldiers like Master Chief) and the person who created Cortana (Master Chief’s AI guide/companion).
After that, we see more fantastic location/military imagery interspersed with other characters, including:
- Quan Ah (Yerin Ha): A new character unique to this series.
- Makee (Charlie Murphy): Another new/original character.
- Soren-066 (Bokeem Woodbine): A former Spartan-II candidate who trained alongside Master Chief as a child. He defected after being disfigured during the augmentation process, but looks totally fine here.
- A kid played by Casper Knopf who may be a young Master Chief (aka John-117).
- Miranda Keyes (Olive Gray): The daughter of Dr. Catherine Halsey and Captain Jacob Keyes.
There are plenty of other Easter eggs throughout the trailer, some of which were so awesome that even a Halo neophyte like me took notice.
At 0:28, we get a gorgeous shot of High Charity, the Covenant‘s capital city/ship.
At 0:46, we get a badass (and expensive) looking glimpse at a squadron of Pelican drop ships flying over an unnamed city.
After a shot of an unknown/unidentified character, we finish things off at 0:50 with a final/beautiful look of Master Chief pulling off a flawless three-point landing.
The trailer itself doesn’t give us a ton of information about the plot, but it definitely looks like the series is set to nail the look and feel of the franchise.
Halo will premiere at some point in 2022 exclusively on Paramount+
